••• Comfort Consultation

Every home is different. Lifestyles, comfort levels and budgets vary from family to family. And while this concept seems rather obvious, many companies in the HVAC industry emphasize the “one-size-fits-all” approach. It simply doesn’t work. You may be able to maintain 70 degrees in your home all winter long, but you certainly are not comfortable and you’re not maximizing your energy savings. At Piedmont we look at the situation totally different.

Comfort Survey

On the initial home visit our Comfort Consultants start with a survey to find out what you are looking for and what is most important to you and your family. Some families have energy efficiency, warranties and air quality as their priorities. They need to cut their utility bills, don’t want unplanned repair bills and have a child with bad allergies. Other families may have different priorities such as; reduction of noise, fixing the notorious, cold corner bedroom and making the house less dry in the winter. To them energy efficiency is good, but the other issues are just more important.

Energy Calculations

We measure your home to calculate the energy requirements accurately so your equipment is sized correctly. Even though this takes extra time, it is time well spent. If the equipment is too large, it will keep kicking on to provide short blasts of air, then shut off. Called short cycling, it’s neither efficient nor the most comfortable way to heat or cool your home. (Imagine how much gasoline you would waste if you shut your car off at every stoplight.)

System Inspections

The home comfort products of today have different requirements than the equipment of yesterday, if they are going to deliver the efficiency and comfort they are capable of. For example, does your chimney need an aluminum liner or does the size of your ductwork need to be changed to help eliminate noise or increase airflow to a particular room. Our Comfort Consultants inspect your existing system to ensure you achieve the desired results.

Written Proposal

The “take-it-or-leave-it” proposal is just not acceptable to us. We describe the different levels of products and services available that will meet the needs you expressed to us. We answer questions and offer advice to help YOU decide what system best fits your situation. Most important of all; we put everything in WRITING and SIGN it. This helps eliminate any confusion or misunderstandings down the road and protects you from hidden little extras once the work has begun.

Comfort Consultant

We realize that the Comfort Consultant plays a crucial role in Piedmont’s ultimate goal of providing you with Total Comfort and Satisfaction. From common courtesies such as; being on time and being polite, to technical issues such as; system diagnosis and equipment selection, our consultants are striving to understand your needs, and exceed your expectations. It is our goal that you see them as an advisor you can trust, to help you make an important decision, not a salesman who is trying to force you into a decision.

HELPFUL HINTS
TIPS FOR BETTER EFFICIENCY:

• Set thermostat at one temperature. Constant adjusting can cause higher utility costs. If using your thermostat as a setback type, limit the setbacks to twice a day such as when you are at work and when you are sleeping. Only setback the thermostat 6% of desired temperature (approximately five degrees).
